Blog 8: A subject that I enjoyed studying this semester

Imagen
Hi guys,  I hope you are having a good day.  Today I'm going to tell you about a subject this semester that I've really enjoyed, it's called Costume Construction. In class we have been taught how to make molds to build textile pieces or costume pieces. For example, basic skirt molds, mold transformations to make a Godet skirt, Evasé skirt, how to build a skirt, cut the fabric, sew it and put buttons or zipper, and finally base molds for upper body, dress, sleeve transformations and their construction.  For the first work we had to experiment with textile treatments such as embroidery, printing, among other things. The second work consisted in the design and construction of our own skirt. Finally, the work we have to do to close this semester is in conjunction with Makeup and Characterization, so we must create and design a whole character, his costume and makeup applying the contents of both subjects, so the theme is Monstrosity and Vanguard, the bone transformation of ou...

Blog 7: A website related to my career that I enjoy visiting

Imagen
Hi everyone! I hope you are doing well. today I am going to talk about Pinterest a website I often visit.  Pinterest is a website that is used to view images, allowing the user to create and organize albums of images by theme, interests, among many other things. It allows you to search by category, follow content creators and view everything from images to tutorials that lead you to more similar content. In addition, every time you enter an image there is a link that takes you to the website where that image came from. I use this site almost daily because I use it to get inspiration for drawings, makeup ideas and for my work.  Generally for my works I have to make a log, and I need to look for some references that serve as a guide to make my own creations and put them as part of the process. For example, if I have to make a costume sketch of a specific era, it helps me a lot to look for that type of costume, to see what its characteristics were and to be able to create ...

Blog 6: How can my career make the world a better place

Imagen
Hi everyone, today I will talk about how my career can make the world a better place 🌎❤ Theater or performing arts have always been present in human societies. There has always been a need to express oneself and to create a space for catharsis and reflections. Theatrical design is part of the realization of this space in which new worlds can be created and other perspectives can be shown.  I believe that from my career I can convey social messages, transmit diverse cultures and express what is happening today, how was the social revolt, the climate crisis or racism, making the viewer generate an opinion and put into conversation the issues addressed in the works.  Through visual language such as lighting, characterization, costumes or scenery, the viewer is taken on a journey of sensations and emotions, in which every detail has a message and a meaning to discover. And what do I do in all this process?  At the moment I'm still learning. I think I still have a long way to ...

Blog 5: a photograph that I like

Imagen
hi everyone! This photo was taken by me yesterday. He is my newly adopted cat Kodama (means forest spirit in Japanese). The photo shows his little face and pink nose <3. He is wearing an Elizabethan collar because he was neutered a couple of days ago.  I really like the photo because I love his nose and that it's so pink, as well as his little paws. 💗 I missed having a cat so much. My cats and animals that I had on the island I can't bring them because they already know the freedom of living there. But I know they are very well taken care of.  So since I came to live in Santiago I wanted to have a kitten to accompany me and finally I could adopt one. In fact he has an impressive story, the woman who was giving him up for adoption said he belonged to a lady who apparently didn't want him, so he was lost for a couple of days. Finally, when they found him, he was in another commune because he hid in the engine of a car and traveled there. After that they were giving hi...

Blog 4: One of my favorite meals

Imagen
Hi, today I'm going to talk about one of my favorite foods, vegetable cream. I have always liked creams, cream of lentil, chickpea, tomato, corn, but my favorite is pumpkin and vegetable cream. Although it's like baby food, it's a very tasty and filling dish. Vegetable cream is basically cooked vegetables (potatoes, carrots, pumpkin, peppers, tomatoes, chard, etc), that are mashed and seasoned to taste, you can add olive oil, croutons, a parsley or coriander or mint leaf,  grated cheese and/or pepper.  I love it because it is a very versatile and simple dish. You can mix different vegetables and find the balance between their flavors to create a unique cream.  It is also a healthy dish, which provides nutrients and vitamins to our diet. I didn't take this picture, I got it from the internet because I don't have any pictures of this dish 💬

Blog 3: My favorite piece of technology

Imagen
Hi everyone 💖 My favorite piece of technology is my phone because I can do so many things with it.  (it's an iphone 6, it's several years old, but it still works fine) I listen to music a lot of the day, I think life with music is better, so my phone allows me to listen to music and discover new music as well. I like to take pictures a lot and the phone also allows me to take pictures of everything I find beautiful when I don't have my camera nearby. I also like that it allows me to communicate with my family and friends who are far away, especially because of the pandemic.  Most of the time I am on my phone, either listening to music, taking pictures, looking for information, doing work, communicating with friends or just looking at social media in my free time. What I don't like about this piece of technology is that sometimes it disconnects me a lot from other activities, and although I connect with people at a distance, it disconnects me from what is happening in t...

Blog 2: The reason I chose my career

Imagen
Hi! Today I will talk about why I study theater design. 💖 When I was a child (about 4 years old) I wanted to be a fashion designer. And a funny fact is that I didn't pronounce designer correctly and said I wanted to be a "diseñora". In fact, it makes me laugh now because my classmates are called "diseñores". When I was growing up I started to want to study biology or environmental engineering because I was doing well in the sciences. But one summer, I went to an acting workshop Summer School  at the Universidad de Chile  and I became aware of this whole world of the arts and its wonderful people. After that experience, I decided that I wanted to study an artistic career, although I had never thought about it before, art has always accompanied me and I think that somehow things happened for me to get to art. I was thinking for a long time that I wanted to study acting, when it's not really my thing because I'm more introverted. So I was talking to my mom...
